Upload historical banking, credit-card, and investment activity from the spreadsheet you already have. Trussdee suggests how your columns and values should be translated, so you do not need to rebuild the file in a fixed template.
Export the spreadsheet as a .csv file with a header row.
For banking and credit-card transactions, the required fields are Date, Amount, and Description.
For investment transactions, the required fields are Date, Transaction type, and Total amount for all transactions. Include a ticker, security name, or another security identifier when it applies and a quantity and price per share.
Other fields are optional. Map them when they provide useful context, or leave them blank.
Open Transactions and select Import Data, or open an investment history page and select Import History.
Under What is in this file?, choose Transactions or Investments.
Under Where does it belong?, choose:
One account when every row belongs to the same Trussdee account, then select that account.
All accounts when the file contains multiple accounts. You will map the spreadsheet's account column and translate each account name or number to a Trussdee account.
Drop the CSV onto the upload area or choose it from your computer.
Review Import safeguards before mapping the file.
In Column translation, review Trussdee's suggestions. Only fields marked Required must be mapped.
In Value translation, translate each distinct value from the spreadsheet to an accepted Trussdee value.
Review the translated sample in Preview. Resolve every row marked Fix row.
Check the totals in Import receipt, then select Import.
Nothing is added until you select Import.
Trussdee lists each distinct value found in a mapped value column. Choose what each source value means once, and that choice is applied to every matching row.
Translate investment actions such as Div to Dividend.
Translate account names or account numbers when importing an All accounts file.
Translate categories when the CSV includes them, or choose Leave uncategorized.
Choose Skip rows with this value for activity that should not create a transaction. For example, you can skip Journal or a Stock Split row that only adds shares.
Save a mapping when you expect to upload more files from the same bank, custodian, or spreadsheet layout.
Finish reviewing the column and value translations for the current file.
In Saved mapping, select Save as new.
Enter a recognizable name, such as Schwab brokerage export.
Select Save mapping.
For the next compatible file, choose the saved mapping and select Apply. A saved mapping includes:
Column mappings
Investment transaction-type translations
Account name or number translations
Transaction category translations
Saved mappings are specific to the current user, import type, and account scope. They do not save the CSV, the selected destination account for a one-account import, or the safeguard settings.
If a later file contains a new column name or a transaction value that did not appear before, Trussdee applies the mappings it recognizes, suggests replacements where possible, and identifies the new values for review. After reviewing the changes, select Update saved mapping if you want the profile to remember them.
Ignore dates already covered by existing account history is on by default. Trussdee shows the earliest transaction already stored for a selected account, whether it came from an automatic feed or an earlier import.
With this safeguard on, import only history dated before the displayed cutoff. Rows on or after the account's earliest stored transaction are ignored. For an All accounts file, Trussdee applies each account's own cutoff.
Turn the safeguard off only when you intentionally need to import transactions from dates already represented in Trussdee. Exact duplicates are still checked during import, but overlapping files should always be reviewed carefully.
Leave Adjust for stock splits on for raw broker history. Trussdee adjusts transactions before known splits and leaves later rows unchanged.
If the CSV includes a Stock Split row that only adds shares, translate that value to Skip rows with this value.
Option expiration and exercise rows may have a blank total amount; Trussdee records those lifecycle rows with a total of $0.
Dates containing wording such as 06/01/2026 as of 05/29/2026 use the later date, when the activity reached the account.
Choose the matching spreadsheet column beside every field marked Required. Use Clear all mappings if you want to remove all suggestions and map the file from scratch.
Open Value translation and choose an accepted Trussdee value or Skip rows with this value. If you applied a saved mapping, update it after reviewing the new value.
Compare the CSV dates with the earliest stored transaction shown under Import safeguards. Leave the safeguard on when the file is meant only to extend older history. Turn it off only when the overlap is intentional.
Confirm that the file is saved as CSV and contains both a header row and at least one data row. Other spreadsheet formats must be exported as CSV first.
